چکیده

Averaged circuit models for switching power converters are useful for purposes of analysis and obtaining engineering intuition into the operation of these switched circuits. This paper develops averaged circuit models for switching converters using an in-place averaging method. The method proceeds in a systematic fashion by determining appropriate averaged circuit elements that are consistent with the averaged circuit waveforms. The averaged circuit models that are obtained are syntheses of the state-space averaged models for the underlying switched circuits. An important feature of our method is that it is applicable to switched circuits whose non-switch elements may be nonlinear. Our approach is compared and contrasted with the results on averaged circuit models currently available in the literature. *The first author, now with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley, has been partially supported by an IBM fellowship. Analysis and Experimentation of Soft Switched Interleaved Boost Converter for Photovoltaic Applications

Conventional energy sources are fast depleting due to poor conservation practises and excessive usage while the world’s energy demands are growing by minute. Additionally, the cost of producing conventional energy is rising also leading to an increase in harmful environmental pollution. Hence, there is a need to look at alternative energy sources such as sun, water and wind. Photovoltaic (PV) i...

Low-Frequency Characterization of Switched dc-dc Converters

Averaging techniques are developed to represent buck, boost, and buck-boost types of switched dc-dc converters by approximate continuous models. Simple analytical expressions in terms of the circuit components are derived for the characteristic transient and frequency responses of time-averaged (continuous) power-stage models for use in designing and understanding the behavior of corresponding ...

Subtleties in the averaging of a class of hybrid systems with applications to power converters

High-frequency dither signals are commonly used to implement modulation schemes in power electronics converters. These systems represent an interesting class of hybrid systems with external excitation. They have a rich dynamical behavior, which cannot be easily understood intuitively. Despite the common use of averaging techniques in power electronics, it was only recently proved that a dithere...

Synthesis of Dissipative Nonlinear Controllers for Series Resonant DC/DC Converters

This paper describes analytical advances and practical experiences in a nonlinear controller design methodology for series resonant dc/dc converters. The control goal is to maintain the output voltage (which is the only measured variable) in the presence of large-load perturbations by varying the switching frequency. The proposed methodology utilizes large-scale, nonlinear switched, and general...

A Robust Controller For DC-DC Switched Mode Power Converters

Power converters often consist of linear circuits that are switched between two configurations. Even though each of the configurations is linear, the overall behavior of the circuit is nonlinear. DC-DC switched mode power converters constitute simple but yet efficient means of DC power regulation [ 1,2]. The analysis and control of such a circuit is fairly complicated. Different methods have be...
